Dr. Randy

Ph.d- Licensed Marital and Family Therapist (California Lic. #MFT17019)

First of all, I love doing what I do!  Over the course of nearly 43 years of being a professional therapist it is clear to me that I am a natural-born helper-guide.  When asked what I do I usually answer, “I work with kids, and their parents.”  And, I do.  Prior to becoming a Marital and Family Therapist I was a youth worker for seven years.  I like young people, and they still seem to like me!  I also have a big commitment to healthy marriages and families, and enjoy seeing relationships being healed and strengthened through couples’ therapy and parenting counseling.

My office is a safe place where individual adults, and young people can come with concerns and hurts, like depression, anxiety, OCD (Obsessive CompulsiveDisorder), and certain Autistic Spectrum Disorders (including what was formerly known as Asperger’s Syndrome), to receive helpful treatment. My unique set of personal and clinical skills has equipped me to offer a diversity of therapeutic experiences to just about anyone who comes to see me for professional services.

I am a great fan of marriage, but occasionally, attorneys and the family courts call upon me to help with “high conflict divorce” situations.  This usually involves helping divorcing couples with parenting, co-parenting, and custody resolutions through a process of mediation in my office.  I often work with attorneys and other therapists in a collaborative way to arrive at solutions. So, my work is mostly about relationships, happy hearts, and mental health, and I invite you to give me a call if you have a need in any of these areas.

Licensed Marital and Family Therapist

Therapy doesn’t feel like an occupation.  It is a calling.  I consider it a sacred place to sit with others as they heal and grow.  My life experience combined with my education has equipped me to meet with a variety of people. I particularly love working with those that have experienced trauma and relational difficulties such as divorce and infidelity.

Over the past 20 years I have had the opportunity to engage with teens and young adults as a teacher, mentor and now as a therapist. Because of my own journey, I have a special place in my heart for young women. Girls can come with their struggles, like eating issues, body distortion, depression, self-mutilation and enter into a safe place to receive treatment.

I also enjoy working with children. Let’s be honest here, raising children can be tough! There are challenges that we can anticipate and others that we cannot. Children can come and find a place to play, talk, grieve, learn and grow.

My office is not limited to the Pasadena area. As co-founder of Pour Out, a non-profit based on supporting humanitarian workers through trainings and long term care, I have the opportunity to meet with individuals through Skype sessions and short term visits. Working with others who are constantly pouring out and at risk of burnout gives me much to offer those working with at-risk or distressed populations.

Bottom line- I love people. My desire is to sit with all that enter in; to create a place where they feel seen, heard and hopeful. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
